Why am I getting a Fift illegal option error when running toncli deploy on built binary?

I've been playing around with toncli and smart-contract development, but I've been stuck on the toncli deploy command. I'm using a macbook with M1 chip, so I built Fift from source, but it looks like toncli tries to pass invalid option to the binary.
